Editorial Policy
Last updated: April 25, 2026
At Calculator Trust, we are committed to providing accurate, reliable, and educational calculator tools and content. This Editorial Policy outlines the standards and processes we follow to ensure the quality and integrity of everything on our platform.
Our Editorial Standards
Every piece of content on Calculator Trust — including calculator formulas, educational articles, FAQs, and examples — must meet the following standards:
- Accuracy — All formulas and calculations are verified against established academic, scientific, or industry sources. We cross-reference every formula with at least two authoritative references.
- Originality — All content is written in-house by our editorial team. We do not copy, scrape, or republish content from other websites.
- Clarity — Content is written in clear, accessible language that can be understood by a general audience. We avoid unnecessary jargon and explain technical terms when they are used.
- Objectivity — Our content is factual and unbiased. We do not promote specific products, services, or financial instruments. Calculator results are presented without recommendation or advice.
- Completeness — Each calculator page includes the formula used, step-by-step explanations, worked examples, educational context, and answers to frequently asked questions.
Content Creation Process
- Topic Research — Our team identifies calculator topics based on user needs, search trends, and educational value. We prioritize tools that solve real problems for real people.
- Formula Sourcing — We source mathematical formulas from authoritative references including academic textbooks, government publications (IRS, WHO, CDC, EPA), and established scientific standards. Every formula is documented with its source.
- Calculator Development — Each calculator is individually built and tested with known inputs and expected outputs. We test edge cases (zero values, very large numbers, negative inputs) and verify results against manual calculations and existing reference tools.
- Content Writing — Educational content is researched and written by our content team. We explain the underlying concepts, provide historical context where relevant, include practical examples, and answer common questions.
- Review & Fact-Checking — All content undergoes review before publication. For finance and health topics (YMYL content), we apply additional scrutiny and include appropriate disclaimers directing users to consult qualified professionals.
- Publication & Quality Assurance — Before going live, every page is checked for accessibility, mobile responsiveness, correct internal linking, metadata accuracy, and structured data validity.
YMYL Content Standards
Several of our calculators address topics that Google classifies as "Your Money or Your Life" (YMYL) — content that can impact users' financial well-being or physical health. For these calculators, we apply heightened standards:
- Finance Calculators (mortgage, loans, investments, tax) — Results are clearly labeled as estimates. We include disclaimers advising users to consult qualified financial advisors. Formulas are sourced from established financial industry standards.
- Health Calculators (BMI, calories, body fat, pregnancy) — Results are clearly labeled as estimates based on general formulas. We include disclaimers advising users to consult healthcare professionals. We cite the specific scientific formulas used (e.g., Mifflin-St Jeor equation, U.S. Navy body fat method, Naegele's rule).
Corrections & Updates
We are committed to correcting errors promptly. If a user reports an error in any calculator or content:
- We investigate the report within 1-2 business days.
- If an error is confirmed, we correct it immediately and note the update date.
- We notify the reporter that the issue has been resolved.
We also proactively review our calculators when underlying standards change — for example, when tax rates are updated, new health guidelines are published, or scientific formulas are revised.
Advertising & Independence
Calculator Trust may display advertisements through Google AdSense. Our editorial content is completely independent from advertising. Advertisers have no influence over our calculator formulas, educational content, or editorial decisions. We clearly separate advertising from editorial content.
User Feedback
We actively encourage user feedback. If you find an error, have a suggestion for improvement, or want to request a new calculator, please contact us. User reports are a valuable part of our quality assurance process.
